Calculus

Calculus is a branch of mathematics concerned primarily with derivatives and integrals. The derivative of a function at a given point represents the rate of change of the function at that point. One of the applications of derivatives is to determine velocity and acceleration of an object in motion. The process of finding an integral (integration) can be thought of as the inverse process of finding a derivative (differentiation). Applications of integrals include calculating areas of plane regions or surfaces, as well as calculating volumes of solids. Both derivatives and integrals are defined using the concept of limit.
