Bernoulli, Jakob (1654-1705)
Swiss mathematician (aka Jacque I or James I) brother of Johann Bernoulli. they are considered the most important founder of Calculus with the exception of Newton, the two had bitter arguments about the quality of each other's work.

Scottish mathematician who became a disciple of Newton, published A Treatise of Fluxions, developed method for expanding functions about the origin in terms of series now known as Maclaurin Series.

Wallis, John (1616-1703)
Contributed substantially to the origins of calculus and was the most influential mathematician before Newton.
